How Long Does the Implant Denture Process Take?

In this video, Dr. Robert Harvey outlines the process of placing mini dental implants and fitting your denture with an emphasis on patient involvement and satisfaction.

The process of placing mini dental implants and fitting your denture involves several steps. Initially, we place the mini dental implants in a single appointment. After the placement, we allow the implants to integrate or heal within the jawbone, which can take about three weeks, depending on the quality of your bone.

Once the implants are securely embedded in the bone, we proceed to the second appointment where we take an impression to create your dentures. During this visit, we perform what’s called a “bite registration” using wax. This step helps us determine how your jaws will align and how your teeth will come together.

The third appointment is crucial for aesthetic and functional verification. At this stage, we set the teeth in wax, allowing you the opportunity to see what your final teeth will look like before they are permanently set. This is your chance to critique their appearance, check if they are centered, ensure they are level when you smile, and confirm that you are showing the right amount of teeth. My focus during this visit is to ensure that the teeth interdigitate properly and look aesthetically pleasing for you.

If everything looks good and both you and I approve the setup, we then process the denture. The final denture is not processed until we both give a thumbs up, ensuring that you are completely satisfied with the result. This approval typically occurs during the fourth visit, when you receive the finalized denture.
