The Benefits of Mini Dental Implants

In this video, Dr. Rameek McNair and Dr. Robert Harvey explain the advantages of mini dental implants, including their less invasive nature and cost-effectiveness.

Mini dental implants offer significant benefits that make them a preferable option for many patients and dental practitioners alike. One of the primary advantages is their less invasive nature, which leads to quicker healing times. Additionally, they cost about half as much as conventional implants. This cost-effectiveness, combined with their simplicity, allows for the final restoration to be placed much sooner—often within weeks.

Having practiced dental implant surgery for over 35 years, I have witnessed a substantial evolution in implant technology. In the early years of my practice, the technique involved in placing conventional implants was quite invasive. It required peeling back the gums to expose the bone, drilling large holes for implant placement, and then suturing the gums back together. Over the years, my practice has transitioned from using predominantly conventional implants to exclusively using mini and one-piece implants. This shift was motivated by the ease and efficiency of the mini implants: they can be placed in as little as five minutes, and patients are often surprised at how quickly and painlessly the procedure is completed.

Today, I focus 100% on mini and one-piece implants, as I find them to be more advanced and less cumbersome than the conventional methods. They have transformed my practice, making the implant process easier for patients, my staff, and myself. I no longer use conventional implants because they feel outdated compared to the streamlined process and benefits offered by mini and one-piece implants.
