What If I’m Missing a Single Tooth?
In this video, Dr. Rameek McNair discusses the benefits of mini dental implants for replacing molars and their role in restoring natural chewing function.
If you’re missing a single tooth, particularly a molar, mini dental implants offer a fantastic solution. One of the great advantages of using mini implants for molars is the ability to replace the tooth with an implant that matches the size of a natural molar. This is particularly beneficial because molars are critical for chewing, handling 80% to 90% of this function.
For a molar replacement, I often place two mini dental implants to provide robust stabilization. This approach allows us to fit a replacement tooth that is the same size as your natural molar. In contrast, with conventional implants, the replacement tooth often ends up being smaller than the actual molar, which can be less effective and aesthetically pleasing.
Mini dental implants are thus not only efficient but also effective in maintaining the integrity of your dental structure and ensuring that your chewing capability is restored to its natural state. This method is especially important in the back of the mouth, where the bulk of chewing occurs and where the strength and size of the teeth play a crucial role in overall dental health.
