Dental Bonding vs Dental Crowns
In this video, Dr. Robert Harvey discusses transitioning from dental bonding to using crowns for long-lasting smile enhancement.
People often ask if they can improve their smile with dental bonding to address issues like gaps, twists, or discoloration in their teeth. I used to perform dental bonding using resin, but after 40 years of practice, I’ve shifted my approach based on what I’ve found to be most effective in the long term. Now, I primarily use crowns.
Unlike bonding materials, crowns do not change color over time. Think of it like a plate: you can get blueberry stains on it, but they wash off, leaving the plate as good as new. Crowns maintain their color and shape consistently, which I believe is crucial for longevity.
Although dental bonding with resin costs about half as much as a crown, the investment in crowns is worthwhile. They provide a durable, beautiful smile that lasts for years, making them a superior choice in the long run.
