Do you think your smile affects how others view you? In a survey of 2,000 Americans, around 76% of respondents admitted that their first impression of someone is influenced by their smile. However, that same survey found that most respondents didn’t like the look of their own smile. At Aspire Dental Group in Lake City, FL, we believe everyone deserves to have a smile they love! Fortunately, we offer a wide range of smile-enhancing solutions, including dental veneers. We use veneers to improve the overall appearance of your teeth using a simple, non-invasive cosmetic procedure that will leave you smiling confidently!
What Are Dental Veneers?
Dental veneers are thin, tooth-colored shells that replace the front-facing surface of your teeth to address any insecurities you may have with your smile. At Aspire Dental Group, we use porcelain veneers for their long-lasting and durable qualities! With these covers, we can customize the shape, length, size, and color of individual teeth, ensuring you have a perfect smile.
What Issues Do Dental Veneers Address?
We use dental veneers to hide many different issues you may have with your teeth. Some of these include:
Tooth discoloration: While some stains on your enamel do come off with proper brushing or teeth-whitening products, other stains are stubborn. Whether you want your whole smile whitened or one discolored tooth to match the rest, we customize the shade of your veneer to brighten your smile!
- Chips or cracks: Dental trauma is a result of any outside force damaging your teeth. If the damage isn’t severe, a veneer can cover the chip or crack, not only presenting an unblemished tooth but also protecting your tooth from further injury.
- Gaps or overcrowding: Some teeth grow in odd places, leaving large gaps between them or overlapping with surrounding teeth. Veneers can fix minor misalignments by presenting a perfectly positioned smile and covering gaps or overlaps.
- Misshapen teeth: Teeth come in all shapes and sizes, and they don’t always match. If the shape of one tooth fails to match the rest, or you wish your teeth were a different size or length, we can use veneers to make them so!
No matter what issues you mean to cover with dental veneers, Aspire Dental Group is here to help! Our team of passionate dentists has a combined experience of 65 years of helping patients like you receive the smile you deserve!
The Dental Veneers Process
To place veneers, we will first start with a consultation. Here, we will discuss your eligibility for dental veneers.
To receive veneers, your teeth must be in great condition. As veneers only improve the outermost layer of enamel, they can’t treat any underlying issues. If you have problems like a cavity or gum disease, we must treat those first! Only then, once your smile is healthy, will we place veneers.
The next step is to schedule your first actual veneer appointment!
Preparation
During your first appointment, we prepare your teeth by removing a small amount of your front-facing enamel. It’s important to note that this procedure is irreversible, which means your tooth will never grow enamel back.
We scrape off the damaged enamel to make room for the veneer to sit flush against your smile. Then, we provide temporary veneers based on your teeth’s impression. While waiting for your final veneers, you can decide what shape, length, size, and color look best! Any change you want in your temporary veneers, we will reflect in your final version before they arrive.
Bonding
Once your final veneers are complete, you’ll return to the office so we can attach them to your teeth. During this appointment, we place the veneers on your smile to ensure it looks just right! We do any alterations we need to make for an optimal fit right in the chair.
Next, we clean, polish, and roughen your tooth to allow for easier bonding. After applying a special cement to your tooth, we adjust the shade of the adhesive to ensure a perfect match with the color of your veneers.
Once we are sure your veneers fit perfectly in your mouth, we shine a UV light to activate chemicals in the adhesive, causing it to harden rapidly. Lastly, we remove any excess adhesive, check your bite, and ensure you feel great about your brand-new smile! If you are unhappy with your veneers for any reason, we will send them back to the lab for alterations.
